Acts 24:10-21 – No Time Like the Present

Escorted under military protection from Jerusalem where an assassination attempt against his life was discovered, Paul stands trial in Caesarea in the court of the Roman Governor Felix. No legitimate charge was found against him, so Felix had Paul held under arrest until the higher authorities could advise him what to do. It took two years! All the while, Felix kept summoning Paul and enquiring about the gospel of Christ. His soul became greatly troubled about his sinful condition, yet Felix would not repent and come to Jesus for salvation. Sending Paul away, Felix declared that perhaps he might call on him again at a more “convenient time”. As far as we can learn from Scripture, that time never came. Felix’s example solemnly warns us of the danger of procrastination in matters of the soul. The truth is we have no guarantee of tomorrow. Repenting and believing now, before it is too late, is urgently important. There is no time like the present!
